Latest District 8 News!

I'm happy to nominate Rex Lesher for the 2008-2009 District 8 VP position. I have been flying with Rex for the last seven years and I have total confidence in his abilities to lead and grow this district. Below is his campaign statement:

I have been active in R/C airplanes since the mid 90's, and began flying pattern in 2001. Aviation has been one of my favorite pastimes since I was a little kid, building and flying Rubber powered gliders, losing them in the mountains and building another...  Just to lose it also!  I got tired of losing planes and got into C/L in the the early 70's, then was introduced to R/C in the mid seventies.  After High School, College and life got in the way and I stayed out of modeling until 1994, where I began flying R/C planes.  By 2000, I got tired of just boring holes in the sky and decided to try pattern, as it seemed like the logical choice to further my abilities.  One contest is all it took, and have been hooked ever since. Flying in contests is more than just competition in my mind.  It gives a pilot the ability to not only judge his or her progression, but also provides an avenue to see different styles of flying and ways to help improve precision.

I would be pleased to have the opportunity to serve as District 8's VP, and represent you for the 2008-2009 seasons.  My role, as I see it, is to provide you with the opportunities to voice your opinions, concerns and needs...  to keep you apprised of all pertaining to the goings on in the NSRCA.  I would like to continue the role as a supporter to "Grow Pattern".  We need to continue with the practice of providing Pattern Primers and introducing pattern flying to new pilots. I feel all can be achieved through good communication and support of one another. I'm already looking forward to next season, as we will be seeing a few new faces and equipment.

No flying in the Tri-Cities this weekend. The wind blew all weekend! The weather has not supported much practice this year. The season will get started pretty soon and I have only have one or two flights this year! I'm hoping for a break in the weather conditions soon!

I have added details for the DAM contest and the RAMS contest. The details include directions to the fields and a couple of hotels with contact data. This year we are staying at the Hampton Inn for the DAM contest and the Best Western for the RAMS event. The DAM contest is on the long weekend in Canada, Victoria Day, so make your reservations early!

I have also added lots of material to the web site. I have added a search page with a button to search our web site, at the moment this feature does not work, I'm working with the web gurus to resolve the problem. The search page does have a google search function to allow searching our site or the web. Please consider making the D8 web site your browser home page, that way you can keep up with all the latest news!

Send me your bio and a couple of pictures for the D8 Pilots page!

March 6, 2006

I have added a details link on the 2006 Competition page under the Judging Seminar event. You will find all the details on the event including a map and a great deal on a room if you would like to stay the night, only $35! Check it out and make your reservations including those for the Fun In The Sun Contest.

Checkout the MVP page honoring the D8 heroes!

Hello everyone! I have just updated the web site and I would appreciate it if you would look the site over and report to me any problems, typos, and general navigation problems you find. Please email your comments to me at gaa@owt.com. You will find all the contest reports for 2004 and 2005, you will also find all of the 2005 score data. I'm now in the process of adding a lot of additional pictures to each contest report, you will find a link at the end of each report to the picture page.

I would like to hear for you regarding things you would like to see added to this site. I have a lot of work left to do but I wanted to get the new site up and running as soon as I could. You can always find the latest news on this page!
