2007 Judging Seminar
Clackamas, OR
Written by Gordon Anderson, NSRCA District 8 Vice President

We can not start the Pattern contest season without our annual Judging Seminar and this year is no exception.  The training was held in Clackamas, Oregon near Portland.  We held the seminar at a Denny’s conferencing center.  It was a very nice facility.  The use of the conference room was free providing we bought $150 worth of food.  Given we needed to eat lunch anyway this did not seem to be much of a problem!  The facility was great lots of table space and lots of room.  The food was great and the cost was about $14 a person for a great buffet lunch.  So if you are looking for places to hold a judging seminar consider calling a Denny’s!

We were fortunate to have Gary McClellan as our instructor!  He did a great job reviewing all the rule changes, going over the new sequences and providing the judges training.  These events are a lot of fun and a great setting to discuss the fine points of box violations!

We had a total of 17 people take the class and become qualified judges, a very good turn out for the event.  I would like to thank all of those who attended, everyone one who said they would attend did and that made the lunch planning a snap.  I would also like to thank Gary for his efforts, he has been providing this training for several years and we all enjoy the way he runs the session.
